witness of the Spirit
It is the Spirit that attests to the Truth comunicated by the prophetic word.
The prophet is the communicator.
The hearers will recognize God's Truth through their connection to the Holy Spirit.
It is the Spirit that leads. It is the Sprit that bears witness to Its own Truth.
The prophet is to comunicate, not convince. The prophet communicates, in faith, that the Spirit will do the work of revelation and understanding.
The prophet lives with inner conflict that keeps them utterly dependent on God for any action made. In essence, the prophet must truly become the 'slave of the Spirit', lest they act or speak of their own volition and become a stumbling block to others, as they stumble themselves.
But men are flawed, and they will stumble. Therefore, our efforts would be better focused not on the perfection of personally held standards, but rather on not being a stumbling block to others as we work out our own salvation and spritual gifts.
"Put on then, as God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness and patience, bearing with one another and if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive.
And above all these, put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony." Col 3:12
